Enrollment Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • A+ Charter Schools, Inc. generally admits all students who reside within its geographic boundaries and for whom a grade level is offered. No student shall be denied admission based on sex, national origin, ethnicity, religion, disability, academic, artistic, or athletic ability, or the district the child would normally attend, in accordance with school district student admissions laws. Education Code 12.111(a)(5). However, students with a documented history of criminal offenses, juvenile court adjudications, or discipline problems, as outlined under Subchapter A, Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code, may be excluded. Additionally, Pre-Kindergarten students must meet the eligibility criteria specified in the Texas Education Code. See Pre-Kinder Eligibility  for additional information. 

  • To enroll your child, visit our Student Enrollment Page, where you can find the links to complete the online application form.

  • A lottery is to be conducted if the number of applicants exceeds the maximum enrollment. The lottery is a random selection process that determines the order of enrollment of student applicants as well as those placed on the waitlist.The lottery shall take place within 10 days after the closing date of the application period. All applicants are notified of their acceptance status (accepted or waitlisted) via email after the lottery.

  • Yes, we have specific enrollment windows each year. Typically, Intent to Return applications are available in mid-November, and Open Enrollment/ New Student applications open in early December. The New Student Lottery takes place in mid-February. Please check our website for this years Student Admission Enrollment Schedule and Lottery details.

  • We continue accepting applications after Open Enrollment ends. However, only applications submitted during the Open Enrollment period are included in the lottery. If a student applies to A+ Charter Schools, Inc. outside of the designated application period, the student will be placed on a waiting list in the order of the date in which the application is received. If a spot becomes available, you will be contacted. 

  • Admission to A+ Charter Schools, Inc. is open to students whose parent or legal guardian reside in the approved geographic boundary area of Dallas, Ellis, Kaufman and Rockwall counties. 

     

  • No, we do not require an entrance exam or test for enrollment. We focus on creating a supportive and diverse learning environment for all students, regardless of their academic background.

  • Yes, our PK-3, PK, and Kindergarten programs are full-day and tuition-free.

  • Yes. Pre-K students that are not potty trained can be enroll in Pre-K if the student meets the Pre-K eligibility criteria. However, families are strongly encouraged to work diligently on potty training once their child is enrolled.

     

    Here are a few ways that parents/guardians can help with their child's independence with potty training at home and at school. 

    • Remind children to use the restroom regularly (every 30 minutes to an hour) even when they say they don't have to go.

    • Teach, model, and guide children to wipe themselves.

    • Dress them in clothing that is easy for them to remove independently (no belts, loose-fitting clothes, elastic waist bands, no rompers or overalls).

    • Have children consistently practice pulling their own pants up and down.

    • Praise your child for all the effort and success!  Do not punish or shame them for having a potty accident as that will only prolong the process.

    • Be patient and consistent! 

    • Inform your child's teacher at what stage they are in potty training and how often they need to go.  

  • Yes, we have an established dual credit partnership with the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), allowing our students to take college-level courses while still enrolled in high school. Additionally, we offer a variety of Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, providing students with the technical, academic, and employability skills needed for success in both college and future careers.

  • The Accelerated Learning Academic Calendar includes designated "Accelerated Learning Days," which are special days where selected students receive focused, intensive instruction. Starting in the Fall, these days are scheduled on Fridays and are designed to boost student performance. The goal is to address each student’s individual learning needs while also enhancing their overall well-being. However, Accelerated Learning Days are not required for all students. Only students who have been specifically selected will attend on “Accelerated Learning Fridays.”
